The Brief

Miss Wöstmann’s home is a beautiful 1950’s property in the heart of London, just a short walk from Kings Cross Station. When she bought the house, the client inherited a compact and cosy kitchen, but it just didn't reflect her personality, so she was eager to play around with the style and make it her own. Miss Wöstmann wanted a space that was functional yet vibrant, using colour to bring life to the room and create a fun place to cook and dine. We opted for a modern twist on a traditional design, using our Draycott door, a contemporary slab with a classic in-frame design. It was the perfect mixture of modern and traditional to reflect the character of the home and the client's unique style. Dry Rose, our playful pink shade was perfect for bringing the element of fun to the kitchen, and we paired this with a veined Strata Perlatino worksurface and an industrial knurled handle to bring the look together. As the room is compact, it was also important to Miss Wöstmann that the design maximised storage possibilities, making the most of the footprint. We chose solutions such as the Kesseböhmer LeMans corner unit, to allow tricky corner space to be utilised, and drawer inserts from our partners at Konfigure, to keep everything organised and practically accessible.

Designer's Tip

When space is limited in a kitchen, it can really help to play around with fun yet sophisticated colours, materials and accessories to bring it to life.

“I'm very happy with how the design of the kitchen turned out. I love the combination of the playful pink with the natural linen tiling and just feel like the whole space reflects my personality now!”
